Non skiers and other activities

If you are a non-skier or simply want to take a break from the slopes, Les Gets offers a wide range of other activities to suit all:

Snowshoeing A fabulous way to explore the magic of a snow covered landscape with awe inspiring views of the vast mountain ranges surrounding Les Gets. Don't worry about your level of fitness; Caroline your qualified guide will tailor the walk to suit the ability of the group. Many clients are a little apprehensive at first but return at the end of the day with wide smiles and stories of their fantastic day!

Parapenting A more radical way of seeing Les Gets and the views - from underneath a parachute at around 1800metres! With a qualified instructor take a tandem flight from the top of Mont Chery for the experience of a lifetime! See www.lesgets-parapente.com

Iceskating Les Gets has it's own outdoor icerink - excellent fun for everyone with kids supplied with safety blades.

Dog sleding A perfect "red letter day" perhaps as a gift for someone. It is rather expensive (€125 per person 2004) and must be booked in advance.

Health and Beauty Treat yourself to a relaxing massage or indulge in a luxurious facial at the Institut de beauté. An ideal way to soothe away the aches and pains of a hard days skiing.

Mechanical music museum Les Gets is the "capital of mechanical music" - visit the museum with guided tours to see and hear barrel organs, animated scenes and clockwork dolls, music boxes and pianolas. Alternatively appreciate the music of the automatic philharmonic organ in the village church with it's 1000 pipes.

Fruitière des Perrières The village fromagerie produces such local cheeses as Tomme, Reblechon (essential ingredient of tartiflette) Abondance and butter and yoghurts. Every Wednesday morning the doors are opened and you are invited to a free guided tour to watch the milk transformed into cheese.

Retrospective ski exhibition An exhibition of skiing through the ages housed at the top of the Mont Chery telecabins.

Heritage trail Another free tour lasting approximately one hour concentrating on traditional village life and it's customs.

Regular events During 2007/2008 the town hosted many events which we hope they will continue for future years. These included complimentary vin chaud or hot chocolate at a welcome meeting in the town square each Monday evening followed by a spectacular fire work show. Pedestrianisation of the high street each evening with street entertainers and shows. A torchlit descent of the ski slopes by the French Ski instructors, Street carnivals and many more spectacles. We will let you know the programme of events during your holiday when you arrive in resort.
